Birmingham Hippodrome Rocks On!

Due to soaring demands, Birmingham Hippodrome has announced an extra week of performance for We Will Rock You, the hit Musical written by comedia and author Ben Elton.  The show kicked off with a bang on 2nd July as theatre goers were treated to a surprise performance from Queen Musicians Brian May and Roger Taylor.  To see photos of the evening, please click here.

And the winner is…

Suzie Branch, Client Services Director of BHMG Marketing, has been crowned BYPY 2009 at the award ceremy on Thursday 4th June at the ICC.  Alongside the announcement of this year’s BYPY, Alan Chathan of Birmingham Development Company won Inspiring Leader of the Year 2009.  Urban provides communications services to Birmingham Future, including media relations and speechwriting services.  Please click here for further information.

Hippodrome Raises Curtain on New Vision

Urban has been providing strategic communications support to Birmingham Hippodrome, the country’s most popular theatre, in preparation for the unveiling of a new vision at its Gala Dinner on Saturday 16th May 2009.  Urban has been working alongside the Birmingham Hippodrome Board and executive team on preparing the Prospectus, which highlights Birmingham Hippodrome’s vision to be an internationally recognised cultural enterprise.  Please click here for the full version of the Prospectus which has been designed by Urban Associate Soda Design.

Looking Forward

Birmingham Forward held its AGM at the Hyatt last week with four new Board Directors elected and a new Deputy Chairman revealed.  New Chair Sue Lewis outlined her themes for the year as well as unveiling Graham Nicoll of Barclays Wealth as Deputy Chairman.  Urban provided speechwriting services to the incoming and outgoing chairs as well as PR support as part of our ongoing service to the lobbying and networking body.  For further information, please click here.

Change of Name

Stanley Casinos have recently changed its name to Genting.  Urban continues to provide strategic communication advice to Genting on its bid to develop a Resorts World complex with the NEC in Solihull.

A New Vision of Gateshead

Gateshead Council announced a brand new vision for the town centre in December 2008. In a bid to regenerate and develop the heart of Gateshead, cabinet members have endorsed the ambitious 20-year programme. Urban was part of the consultancy team that produced The Gateshead Centre Regeneration Delivery Strategy that will now be used as the blueprint for redeveloping the heart of Gateshead.
